A post that I made in the Global Youth Ambassadors Group That I thought I should share.
Dear Fellow Global Ambassadors,
Zimbabwe has one of the best education systems in Africa. We have the highest literary rate on the continent (90.2%) but this is the grim reality of education standards in some of the marginalised areas; Buno Primary School-Gokwe (pictures).
Fellow GYAs as we do our work advocating for access to education, Its important to keep in mind that quality of education is as equally important. Access and quality of education are symbiotic. Its not enough to only get children into school. There should be effective learning in schools, a quality and relevant education that equips children with the necessary knowledge and skills for the future. There is need for good quality school infrastructure, safe learning spaces, qualified teachers and relevant curricula. I hope this can also be factored in our advocacy work.
